James leads us in our lent series by looking at Luke 9. This audio was recorded at home as the church wasn’t meeting due to the Coronavirus outbreak, as part of our online gather we recommended the following as a church service!
Step 1 – Watch or listen to James’ sermon.
You can view the video file here (or below): https://vimeo.com/397686178/78a5bf911d
You can listen to the audio of the talk here: http://dublinwest.ie/?sermons=lent-put-god-first
Step 2 – Reflect and think, if you find it helpful you could use this song – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pri10SRoBPc
Step 3 – Pray this prayer as part of your prayers today (from the Church of Ireland website).
You can also find a longer prayer here https://www.24-7prayer.com/blog/2855/a-coronavirus-prayer
Almighty and All–loving God,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
we pray to you through Christ the Healer
for those who suffer from the Coronavirus Covid–19
in Ireland and across the world.
We pray too for all who reach out to those who mourn the loss of each and every person who has died as a result of contracting the disease.
Give wisdom to policymakers,
skill to healthcare professionals and researchers,
comfort to everyone in distress
and a sense of calm to us all in these days of uncertainty and distress.
This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord
who showed compassion to the outcast,
acceptance to the rejected
and love to those to whom no love was shown.
Step 4 – Discuss and share
During Lent, we’re hoping to share what these passages are saying to us. So if you have any thoughts, comments etc. on the sermon today please leave a comment!
Step 5 – Care and communicate
On top of all of this please continue to look out for one another over this time. Text and phone people in church, in your growth group etc. to see that everyone is doing ok. And if you have any questions or concerns please get in touch with one of the church leaders.
